indie weather bad pop

You can't write this stuff.
This weekend was a whirlwind if ever a wind has whirled. For the aspiring meteorologists out there, the weather alone was enough to write home about. A characteristically gorgeous autumnal drive south kicked the weekend off, but by the same time the next day it was decidedly wintertime. The Hudson Valley was all black n' white by Saturday night, caked in layers of snow that would make January proud, dark as basically the whole region lost power. New Paltz was nearly another Hudson ghost town (this is sort of a pun that you won't understand til later) save for the one immutable, unconquerable emblem of human perseverance - the pizzeria bar. Grimaldi's became the makeshift host for what was originally supposed to be a good old fashioned basement bash. In the end, it pretty much was. In the most glorious of ways. Year on a Mountain, Nelsonvillains, and the surprise-reunion of New Paltz legends Ghost Mall supplied more energy than a blizzard of any proportions could obliterate. Seriously these bands were fucking sick. Even all you Burlington punk shmuks and garage whores (terms of the utmost affection) would dig it. And the romanticism of the whole thing just can't be denied. One pizza n' beer-filled glimmer of light in a town blacked-out from the weather's wicked tomfoolery. It felt like the whole town was there, and at one point or another probably most of it was. HUGE props to everybody, but especially Jake and Nelsonvillains for getting us on the bill. These cats will be making an appearance in our own wintry wonderland on Tuesday, November 15th, so plan accordingly.
And to think that the morning of the day the winter came, waking up on couches that even the coked-est heads of the 1980s would respect, we had already played a show in the city that Nick Dooley built, Brooklyn New York. The Greenpoint Gallery hosted a rollicking good time featuring several NYU bands, eerily awesome art, animals, and moodbending cinema by the bar. This shit was hip. Many properties to Clownface, The Sort-Me-Outs, KevinfuckingGarrett, and Montes Rock for letting us New England surf bumpkins join the bill. Good times were had by all, and undeniably spectacular times were had by some. Butifanybodyseesjunioriwouldreallylikemyswissarmyknifeback.
And in reference to the mighty Fridge November recording hiatus? If only. We'll see you kids this Thursday, November 3rd, for Friends and Family's Billings Bombardment of Bands. A night of wholesome fun featuring Gloaming, Hello Shark, the Slopsters, PALS, Evil Pit Bastards, and maybe more?? No way to know. Come find out. Doors at 7 PM.
F$ album on its way. Rhythm tracks getting did as we speak.
Happy Halloween.
